Energy audit according to DIN EN 16247-1

Identify your company’s savings potential!

Increase energy efficiency in your company

Since 2015, the amendment of the Energy Services Act (EDL-G) has come into force, which obliges companies in Germany to carry out an energy audit according to DIN EN 16247-1 every 4 years. The obligation applies to all companies that are not a small or medium-sized enterprise (SME). If you do not comply with this obligation, fines of up to € 50,000 can be imposed.

We support you in carrying out an energy audit or a repeat audit according to DIN EN 16247-1. Within the scope of the energy audit, which is carried out in 7 phases, the use and consumption of energy are analyzed. This involves plants, buildings, entire systems or even complete organizations. In this way, savings potentials can be specifically identified for your company and energy efficiency measures can be derived and implemented. The economic benefit should therefore not be underestimated.

Energy audit process: more energy efficiency in seven phases

We conduct energy audits and also repeat audits in several phases. Constant exchange and contact are particularly important to us, so that you can keep an eye on the progress of the energy audit at all times and we can respond individually to your personal wishes and ideas.

  • Phase 1-2

    Initial contact and kick-off meeting

Together we discuss the organizational matters, such as time frame, resources and areas of application and subsequently concretize the implementation of the energy audit.

  • Phase 3

    Data collection

Our auditor obtains an overview of the factors that play a role in the energy efficiency of your company.

  • Phase 4

    Field service

On site, our expert inspects the production steps and takes further measurements.

  • Phase 5

    Analysis

The auditor maps the ACTUAL state of your company. On this basis, the energy efficiency of your company is determined and measures for increasing it are identified.

  • Phase 6-7

    Report and final meeting

The auditor prepares an energy report that shows your company’s savings potential. The results are discussed together and further measures are discussed.

Energy management system according to DIN EN ISO 50001 exempts from the obligation to perform an energy audit

Energiemanagementsystem DIN EN ISO 5001

Companies that have established an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 are exempt from conducting an energy audit in accordance with DIN EN 16247-1. Unlike a selective energy audit, an energy management system allows you to create structures and processes that increase your energy efficiency in the long term.

Both solutions offer different advantages and disadvantages depending on the industry and company structure. Our team of experts will be happy to advise you and work with you to find the optimal solution for your company.

Multi-site procedure saves effort in energy audit

As a company with several sites, you may be able to take advantage of the multi-site procedure. In this case, the energy audit is carried out at a representative selection of sites, so that the effort is significantly reduced. The following companies can use the multi-site procedure:

  • Companies that operate under a license agreement (franchising)
  • Companies that have a branch structure (e.g. food, clothing, banks)
  • Companies with a network of sales offices
  • Service companies with multiple locations, each of which has a similar service
  • Companies with several branch offices

The energy audit can also be used for several affiliated or partner companies. This means that it can take place as a group audit. In this case, each company must still be audited, but field visits can be saved.

You are not sure whether the multi-site procedure is suitable for you? Please contact us!
